Huckabee’s code

Listening to Mike Huckabee’s speech after Super Tuesday I couldn’t help but think he was speaking in code.  I’m pretty sure he was.  I have limited insight into the minds of Christians, having grown up in a Christian school and having various family members involved in the church at one level or another — I say limited…

This article on NPR says Huckabee’s strategy of speaking in code to these hardcore evangelicals is flawed since they say that most church goers don’t even know what the heck he’s talking about with all these Bible stories.

“You could imagine that … this is his secret code way that he could speak to evangelicals without alienating more secular people,” Prothero says. “But the faulty part of that strategy is the evangelicals don’t even necessarily know these stories.”

It kinda doesn’t matter either way to me, the guy scares me, the thought of him in office scares me and I wish people would just cut out all this religio-balogna and talk about things that will really help our country…

Jim Demint is the main sponsor behind S.2409 (The Loyalty to our Legacy Act of 2007). Is this all he has to do with his time?

A bill to direct the Architect of the Capitol to ensure that the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and the national motto “In God We Trust” are each displayed prominently in the Capitol Visitor Center on a permanent basis and to prohibit the Architect from removing or refusing to include language or other content from exhibits and materials relating to the Capitol Visitor Center on the grounds that the language or content includes a religious reference or Judeo-Christian content.

Sad news today, with John Edwards dropping out of the race. I know he wasn’t in first place, but things seemed honest while he was in the race… Sorry to see you go John.

Democrat John Edwards is leaving the race for the White House after failing to win any of the party nomination contests held so far, officials say.

Mr Edwards, 54, is expected to publicly announce the end to his second White House bid on a visit to New Orleans.

Turns out i’m more liberal than the most liberal Presidential candidate in 2008 — go figure…

Go take the test and see where you fall, it asks the questions in an unbiased manner and weights your answers on a scale. Pretty neat.

You have to see this.

My favorite part is that he thinks “he has to uphold the Constitution” — what the heck does that even mean?

State Board of Education decides to elect a home-schooling mom as its next chairwoman

I mean seriously, how the heck does this happen?  Article at the State

We admit we have some concerns about the selection of someone who supports vouchers and campaigned so actively against the election of the education superintendent with whom the board should work closely. But while the way Kristin Maguire has chosen to educate her own children does raise questions about her commitment to public education, that alone should not disqualify her from the position.

I ask, why the hell not?

William Kristol - Turd #2

I still maintain that Tucker Carlson is “Turd #1″ but this guy is giving him a run for his money.  Take a look at this clip where a “war wife” (I don’t like the ring to that, but it is a wife who’s husband is deployed to Iraq) really gives it to Kristol, I just want to slap him for his answer, and what the hell is he writing…

Older than Reagan…

This is pretty funny, and I didn’t realize this to boot. If elected McCain would be older than Reagan when he took office. Which provokes this question from a college age kid ad one of MCain’s Q&A sessions…

Global warming part of a leftist agenda that threatens evangelical unity

Hunh? — looks like the national fan club of evengelicals is arguing about global warming and if it’s part of “the vast leftists agenda.” Personally I’d like to see similar thinking evengelicals like Cizik get more time at the podium. I’ve got to think that most true christians are getting sick and tired of having their religion hijacked for political purposes. Full article on CNN

Brian Benson, an eighth-grade student who won first place in the Life Science/Biology category for his project “Creation Wins!!!,” says he disproved part of the theory of evolution. Using a rolled-up paper towel suspended between two glasses of water with Epsom Salts, the paper towel formed stalactites. He states that the theory that they take millions of years to develop is incorrect.

“Scientists say it takes millions of years to form stalactites,” Benson said. “However, in only a couple of hours, I have formed stalactites just by using paper towel and Epsom Salts.”
